GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Cook duties vary and include prep work, salads, vegetables, desserts; meat slicing; helping with dishies and checking in orders. The kitchen has a 4 burner stove, two ovens and 2 grills, upright freezers, upright institutional-style refrigerators, walk-in refrigerator, ice machine, slicer, and dish-washer. Cooks generally have some free time during the day.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greet our guests with a smile and express a genuine appreciation for them
  2. Follow all safety regulations
  3. Follow all Ranch standards guidelines
  4. Responsible for following prescribed recipes and established standards
  5. Cleans food preparation equipment used, and helps in maintaining general kitchen, food storage area and dish area cleanliness
  6. Assists in maintaining food at proper serving temperatures
  7. Assists in ensuring gas-fired stoves, grills and ovens, plus other kitchen equipment are off when not in use
  8. Assists in keeping inventory and ordering of food and staples. The Camp Director and Owners will work with the Head Cook on meal planning and ordering
  9. Assisting in putting away food deliveries
  10. Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
  11. These are not the only duties to be assigned. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties assigned as required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ability to work under time constraints
  2. Ability to help prepare meals for small (10) as well as large (150) groups
  3. Ability to efficiently adjust to last minute changes
  4. Ability to work under close supervision as well as limited supervision

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience in food service and preparation work
  2. Knowledge of quantity food preparation techniques and procedures is a plus
  3. Ability to interpret and follow recipes and to compute basic mathematical calculations
  4. Work references to be supplied
  5. Ability to accept guidance and supervision
  6. Enthusiasm, patience, sense of humor and self-control
  7. People skills
  8. At least 17 years of age
