GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To manage the daily health and care of our horses as well as the safety and enjoyment of our guests.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet our guests with a smile and express a genuine appreciation for them
- Learn some of our local history as well as names of wild flowers, trees, etc. and share that information with our guests in an interesting manner
- Proper feeding and care of horses
- Train assistant wranglers in procedure and rules
- Follow and enforce safety regulations
- Follow all Ranch standards guidelines
- Teach basic horse skills to Guests
- Maintain records of horse care, shots, shoes, feed, trail log, etc...
- Daily Check and maintain equipment and horses, for safety and condition
- Maintain tack and barn area daily for safety and cleanliness
- Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
- Submit job description at end of season
- These are not the only duties to be assigned. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties assigned as required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Physical ability to ride a horse
- Physical ability to lift 50 lb. bag of grain, bale of hay
- Ability to supervise small children through adults, on horses
- Ability to react, and act quickly and appropriately in case of emergency
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of horsemanship (including packing) and care of horses
- Knowledge of children with horses
- Desire to work with children and adults outdoors
- CPR and First-aid certifications
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to relate to one's peer group
- Ability to teach basic horsemanship
- Ability to set up barn, routine for feeding, etc.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Enthusiasm, patience, sense of humor and self-control
- 19 years of age or older
