GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To manage the daily health and care of our horses as well as the safety and enjoyment of our guests.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greet our guests with a smile and express a genuine appreciation for them
  2. Learn some of our local history as well as names of wild flowers, trees, etc. and share that information with our guests in an interesting manner
  3. Proper feeding and care of horses
  4. Train assistant wranglers in procedure and rules
  5. Follow and enforce safety regulations
  6. Follow all Ranch standards guidelines
  7. Teach basic horse skills to Guests
  8. Maintain records of horse care, shots, shoes, feed, trail log, etc...
  9. Daily Check and maintain equipment and horses, for safety and condition
  10. Maintain tack and barn area daily for safety and cleanliness
  11. Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
  12. Submit job description at end of season
  13. These are not the only duties to be assigned. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties assigned as required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Physical ability to ride a horse
  2. Physical ability to lift 50 lb. bag of grain, bale of hay
  3. Ability to supervise small children through adults, on horses
  4. Ability to react, and act quickly and appropriately in case of emergency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Thorough knowledge of horsemanship (including packing) and care of horses
  2. Knowledge of children with horses
  3. Desire to work with children and adults outdoors
  4. CPR and First-aid certifications
  5. Valid driver's license
  6. Ability to relate to one's peer group
  7. Ability to teach basic horsemanship
  8. Ability to set up barn, routine for feeding, etc.
  9. Ability to accept guidance and supervision
  10. Enthusiasm, patience, sense of humor and self-control
  11. 19 years of age or older
